Artist Statement

Growing up in the boreal forest of Northern Alberta, Canada, I fell in love with wilderness and adventure. That same love has translated into a career in landscape and nature photography.

The wonder of wilderness can be seen in my body of work. Ethereal worlds are created in my digital dark room and convey the beauty that I experienced when my toes touch these hidden places.

My soul thrives in the wilderness and I return regularly as a basic personal need to connect with God. Out of those connected moments and adventures my art is created.

A primary goal is that when viewing my work, you too will hear the gentle Whispers.

Whispers In The Wilderness

In the beginning, man walked and talked with God as a friend in the garden. Today social clutter, deadlines and demands unknowingly distract us from the place of quiet where we can begin to hear God.

This is the reason I return to nature.

Through the lens of my camera, I’m searching my heart, searching the landscape and listening intently for Whispers In the Wilderness. My photography allows me to connect and create in places of wild beauty. Somewhere along the trails, on the sides of majestic mountains, and near quiet streams I hear the Whisper.

This is the reason I create in nature.

It’s my hope that through these experiences in nature, that those who view my work will accept the invitation extended to them to draw away into the quiet and listen for the Whisper. For those who are unable or who need a daily reminder when they are unable to venture out, it’s my hope my artwork in their home will be a daily reminder that no matter where they are, if they seek stillness they can talk with God as a friend…and hear Him speak.

I adore nature. I worship God.

In returning to the quiet place of wilderness I found I heard with greater clarity the Whisper of God that I had long since left. An invitation to wonder, to explore, to withdraw from the clutter of media and regularly step into a place where I could hear the conversation my heart needed to have with the One my soul needed.
